Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (YDYS)

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE EXAM

In our school, a Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (YDYS) is held at the beginning of each academic year and additionally at the end of the fall and spring semesters. As a result of this exam, our successful students are exempted from the preparatory class. Students who are not successful are placed in one of the Elementary (Beginner level), Pre-Intermediate (Lower-intermediate) or Intermediate (Intermediate level) classes according to the score they have received from the exam.

All students enrolled in the preparatory class from the departments that have both compulsory and optional preparatory classes can take this exam. Associate degree program students who get at least fifty (50) points out of 100 points; undergraduate program students who get at least seventy (70) points out of 100 points and graduate program students who get the minimum score required by the institute are considered successful.

Foreign language proficiency exam dates are included in the academic calendar of our university.

HOW TO APPLY?

Students who enroll in departments with bothCOMPULSORY PREPARATION CLASS and OPTIONAL PREPARATORY CLASS can apply to YDYS through OBİS (Student Information System) within the dates included in the academic calendar of our university.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

There is no make-up exam for those who cannot take the YDYS and the students in this situation are placed in a class at the Elementary level, the lowest level. For this reason, our students are strongly urged to take this exam in order to determine their language level precisely and to be placed in the level that suits them.
